Fantastic late season snow conditions! 8th Apr 13 The snow keeps falling across the Alps, particularly in the higher resorts topping off a great season - and there is still time to head out for a last minute trip to enjoy the best conditions for decades.
The photo is of Val Thorens on the 8th April.
A number of resorts like Val d'Isere, Val Thorens, Tignes, Zermatt and Saas Fee stay open until the end of April/beginning of May (Val Thorens closes on the 12th May) so there is plenty of time to hit the slopes for one last blast.
More snow is forecast at higher elevations in the coming week.
France - some great skiing at altitude on fresh snow, more snow due at altitude, visibility not great this week.
Italy - a few high altitude resorts will remain open after the Easter holidays such as Cervinia (approx 300 cm's on upper slopes).
Switzerland - better visibility than other countries with less snow forecast but good snow depths (as most other resorts).
Austria - warmer temperatures so head to the high resorts such as Obergurgl and St Anton (approx 190 cm's of snow depth on upper slopes).
Andorra - resorts have stayed open longer than normal due to big snowfalls in mid March.
Canada - the Canadian Rockies are best for Spring skiing with cool temperatures and a deep snowpack.
USA - fresh snow has fallen in some Western resorts and also in California. back to news
