Skiing & Boarding In Banff and Lake Louise

For those staying in Banff, the skiing is at Banff Mount Norquay which is a 10-15 minute ride on the regular shuttle bus, and Sunshine Village (a magnificent 3,358 skiable acres) is 20-25 minutes away. Lake Louise is approximately 45 minutes away. Lake Louise has been called the most scenic ski area in all of North America. The skiing is on three mountain faces and, for skiers and snowboarders of any ability, the options are limitless. From wide, plunging bowls to great tree-line runs and beautifully groomed slopes, there is so much you will probably not be able to ski all of its stunning 4,200 acres. Après-ski In Banff and Lake Louise

The historic town of Banff bustles with bars, boutiques, restaurants and après-ski action. Mad Trappers Saloon at the top of the Sunshine Gondola is the place for a beer after skiing. The Rose & Crown along with Wild Bills are the livliest music joints in Banff. There is a micro brewery, sports bar and of course an Irish Bar.  Lake Louise, although not as lively as Banff, has a few bars and restaurants. The torchlight dinner and ski events are good fun.

Off the slopes there is skating, snowshoeing, dog sledding and snowmobiling. Ice canyon walks are popular – notably Johnson Canyon – and there’s plenty of wildlife to see. The Spas and hot springs are popular. Check out the Red Earth Spa at the Caribou Lodge. There are sightseeing tours and several museums – such as the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies and the Banff Park Museum. There will of course be ice hockey matches in Calgary
